Welcome! How's it going? I'm doing OK, thanks for asking. I used to write a blog called "2,000 words about nothing," in which, on a weekly basis, I wrote 2,000 words, generally about nothing in particular. I wrote it on Thursday evenings. On other days, I would put up links to YouTube videos, almost always music videos, that I liked or found interesting.
Unfortunately, it appears that Blogger does not have a word count function. At least not one that I've found yet. I'm sure it's in here somewhere. Maybe I'll do a quick Google. Just a sec.
OK, I'm back. Um. Hey, Blogger dudes, WordPress has a word count tool. Right? Oh well, whatever. My goal is not to write 2,000 words once a week, so I guess the question is moot. Of course, according to this guy who wrote a book about it, you are supposed to blog 1,000 words a day. Well I guess that's appropriate if you consider yourself a "blogger." I more consider myself a "person who is addicted to seeing his own words in typeface."
(My mom had — actually probably still does have, somewhere — her Smith Corona typewriter she got when she went to college. Man, when I was a kid, I used to love typing on that thing. I would type up the beginnings of little stories, I typed up fake school lunch menus with items like "Maggot Balls" and "Barf Soup" (I was 10, it was funny then and I stand by it to this day), I typed up daily schedules... There is just something magical about seeing the words in your head there in front of you, either on paper or on a screen, like you and what you have to say are important because someone took the time to print it in those nice, neat letters.)
Holy aside, Batman. The point is, hell, I don't even need to publish this post. Just seeing it written out so neatly in the Blogger post thingamajiggy is enough for me. But whether I publish this post or not, I suppose I should write some stuff down because that is what it is all about, for both "bloggers" and "people who are addicted to seeing their own words in typeface."
I just want to try something first.

OK, that was fun. Way cooler than Mom's old Smith Corona.
